Childrens Museum Continues its Expansion of Permanent Exhibits

Oak Park, Illinois - May 17, 2005 - Wonder Works, a Childrens Museum in Oak Park, will unveil a new puppet theater in its Lights, Camera, Action! exhibit on Friday, May 20 at 11am. The theater was designed by Joe Fiacchino and built by Oak Design & Construction, which also crafted the exhibits performance stage.

"We are proud to be help Wonder Works because it encourages creative expression for children and parents," says Dave Brady, president of Oak Design & Construction.

To celebrate the new theatrical experience, Rocking Horse Boutique will perform a special puppet show, and Great Harvest Bread Company of Oak Park will provide refreshments.

The theater will feature hand puppets from the worlds leading puppet maker, Folkmanis, which donated a wide variety of characters. Visitors can take home their own puppet by purchasing a Folkmanis puppet in the museums store or by creating their own as a craft project in the museums art studio.

"The puppet theater adds another dimension to Lights, Camera, Action!," says Wonder Works Executive Director Elizabeth Smith."Its a creative outlet for kids with everything a performer desires a stage, costumes, makeup and puppets."Approaching its second anniversary, the museum plans to add new exhibits or expand existing exhibits throughout the year. Last month Wonder Works debuted Farm to Market, a teaching environment where kids learn about agriculture, nutrition and retail through creative exploration.
