Wonder Works Children's Museum to host second annual summer benefit concert at Fitzgerald's on August 24
Britpop duo and Southern-style cuisine to set event's lively atmosphere
Oak Park, Illinois - July 31, 2007 - The Population, a Britpop duo, are back at Fitzgerald's on August 24, 2007 at 8pm as part of the second annual summer benefit concert for Wonder Works, a Children's Museum in Oak Park. The event, featuring Southern-style food from Wishbone, will help to raise money for the non-profit museum, which depends on donations for 40 percent of its annual budget.
Singer-songwriter Thomas Babbo of Chicago and musician Michael Huber of Indianapolis are The Population. They make catchy, melodic pop songs, from pre-fab to post-punk, bitter to sweet, country to rock-n-roll. "You can call us Britpop, Indiepop or Powerpop - we like and make music with hooks and melody," says Babbo.
"Wonder Works was thrilled with The Population's dynamic performance last year and the over $3,000 in donations that the concert brought in," says Wonder Works Interim Executive Director Mary Bodlak. Wonder Works, a Children's Museum in Oak Park, provides a hands-on environment intended to strengthen the social, emotional and intellectual development of children up to age 10. The 6,400 square foot museum, located at 6445 West North Avenue in Oak Park, includes exhibits, educational programming, a retail store and a children's party room.
