Children's Museum to Host Song, Dance and Culture Activities in February

Oak Park, Illinois - February 7, 2006 - Wonder Works, a Children's Museum in Oak Park, will celebrate Black History Month in February with a series of events perfect for families and children. The activities include:

Wednesday February 8, 11am and Saturday February 11, 3:30pm
Drums of Africa by Atiba Jali

Come listen, learn and explore the Music of Africa as Atiba Jali presents Drums of Africa.

Saturday February 25, 11am, 1pm and 3pm
I'm Your Puppet Productions Puppet Shows

Join Wonder Works for three puppet shows as part of its Black History Month celebration. I’m Your Puppet Productions Puppet Shows is funded by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council.

Storytelling with Velma Gladney

Velma Gladney is a storyteller whose full alto voice emphasizes musical rhythms in a dynamic multicultural fashion. Her message is one that excites the imagination of children and adults with soulfully delivered stories.

Each week, check out a different craft in North Avenue Art Works. For the month of February, each craft will have a Black History Month theme.

Wonder Works, a Children's Museum in Oak Park, provides a hands-on environment intended to strengthen the social, emotional and intellectual development of children up to age 10. The 6,400 square foot museum, located at 6445 West North Avenue in Oak Park, includes exhibits, educational programming, a retail store and a children's party room. The museum is open Wednesday thru Saturday from 10am to 5pm and Sunday noon to 5 pm. Admission is $5 per person and free for members and children under age one.
